Apocalypse NO!
We’ve all heard this joke:
On the sixth day, God turned to the Angels and said: “Today, I am going to create a land called Lebanon, it will be a land of outstanding natural beauty. It shall have tall majestic mountains full of snow, beautiful sparkling lakes cutting forests full of all kinds of trees, high cliffs overlooking sandy beaches with an abundance of sea life.”
God continued, “I shall make the land rich so to make the inhabitants prosper, I shall call these inhabitants Lebanese, and they shall be known as the most friendly people on earth.” “But Lord”, asked the Angels, “don’t you think you are being too
generous to the Lebanese? “Not really”, replied God, “just wait and see the neighbors I am going to give them!”
Most Lebanese would agree that Lebanon’s wars, including its so-called “civil war”, were orchestrated and played out by its lovely neighbors. It just seems like they’ve (Syria, Iran, Israel, the Palestinians, the U.S…) chosen that country as their battle field and that’s the way it’s going to be until religion stops playing a role in the Lebanese political process.
However, here’s an addition to this deadly Molotov cocktail: Right-Wing American Christian Zionists. Their recipe is quite simple, they must be heavily shaken with religious fanaticism for a good 20 years, mixed in with good ol’ ingredients such as blind hatred and a superiority complex, blended with selective theological interpretation, and finally their content strained to created a colorful (usually blood red) apocalypse.
These lunatics are currently having orgasms at the sight of Lebanese civilians being butchered by their Israeli partners in crime. These God loving creatures are doing everything to support the current war and have been doing so with every other war in the Middle East. Of course, Bush is believed to be the right arm of Jesus who will help them follow the teaching of their savior. They applaud all and any crimes committed by their partners, specially those against humanity and war crimes. They are the main transmitters of Jesus’ “message of love” to mankind with their shipment of as much weapons and artillery needed to make sure every civilian, specially women and children, hears it loud and clear.
When their lord said : “Maintain justice and do what is right, for soon my salvation will come, and my deliverance be revealed” (Isaiah 56: 1). The right wingers took it to heart and decided to exclude an entire nation of Palestinians of even existing by stripping them of their rights and actively aiding the genocide committed against them. Their bible proclaims that ethnic cleansing is moral and massacres fair. They preach that “God loves Israel”, forgetting the words of their new testament in which it’s said that “For God so loved the world”. According to the book of Acts, Jesus apparently made it clear to Peter in a vision that God no longer favors one nation over others: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts men from every nation who fear him and do what is right” (Acts 10:34–35). I wonder how they missed this part!
It’s important to note that this unconditional material and diplomatic support for the state of Israel is not to be confused with their love for the Jewish people. It’s been evident since the establishment of the state of Israel that the religious right-wing nut jobs have never cared about what is beneficial for the Jews or their safety.
According to Theocracy Watch:
The First Christian Zionist Congress met in 1985. One resolution at that Congress called for all Jews living outside Israel to move to Israel. The Christians also urged Israel to annex that portion of occupied Palestine called the West Bank, with its near one million Palestinian inhabitants. An Israeli Jew, seated in the audience, rose to suggest that perhaps the language might be modified. He pointed out that an Israeli poll showed that one-third of the Israelis would be willing to trade territory seized in 1967 for peace with the Palestinians.
“We don’t care what the Israelis vote!” declared van der Hoeven [spokesman for the International Christian Embassy]. We care what God says! And God gave that land to the Jews!” After his impassioned outburst, the Christians by a nearly unanimous show of hands passed the resolution. (Grace Halsell, Prophecy and Politics, p.133)
It may be cliché, but what would their Jesus do in a time like this? A hint may be when he supposedly said: “This I command you, to love one another”. So where do these violent fundamentalists stand when they read Matthew 5:9: ” Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God”.
Do they feel accomplished to know that they turned “Qana’s wedding” into Qana’s funeral?
Qana again!
The first Qana massacre was not enough for the blood thirsty Israeli army, so today they continued their vicious attacks on civilians by targeting and killing over 50 innocent civilians, most of whom were babies and children.
We weep for them and for all of those that have been killed.
May they rest in peace.
