Nobel Peace Center – Oslo

By Lara’s request, here are some more pictures of the various quotes that were displayed at the Peace Center… the quotes are of hatred/discrimination. Please don’t be lazy and click on the pictures one by one so that you can actually read what they say.

Oslo,Norway

Hello all,
I went to Oslo this past weekend. It wasn’t at all what I had expected, really nice city. To compare it with Copenhagen, I would say: more multicultural, more expensive, a lot less bicycles (it’s not flat) but great transportation system nevertheless, people are a bit friendlier and seem more tolerant but they don’t speak English as much as the Danes, not as clean as Copenhagen, there are more homeless people and lastly it’s bigger than Copenhagen. Aside from that, Oslo is much more strict in terms of alcohol, Copenhagen is one of the most relaxed cities in Scandinavia (you can drink anywhere you want: on the metro, the street…) whereas you can only buy alcohol in certain places in Oslo. Also, smoking is restricted like in California in all public places. If I remember anything else, I will add it later but loved the city overall. The highlights of the trip were the following:
1) Seeing “the Scream” by Edward Munch at the National Museum.

2) Going to the Nobel Peace Center.
3) Going away from the city (by getting lost and hence seeing a bit of the country side) and seeing the Olympics Ski Jump.

Aside from that, we also went to a sculpture park, which was pretty awesome. Before that, we went to a Viking Museum (a must supposedly), however it was rather small and quite disappointing as it had three chips and that was pretty much it. We also saw the parliament, the Royal Palace and the guards…etc.

The first pic is of Karl Johans Gate (name of that long street). At the top of the hill is the Royal Palace, which is the second picture.

These pictures are of the Nobel Peace Center (opened just a year ago). The Center was incredibly high tech; one would think that it was an electronic museum or something.
The third picture: small screens in a room that show images of past winners of the Nobel Peace Award.

Fourth Pic: Big flat screens showing random messages of intolerance/hate or peace by different world leaders (present and past).

The Olympic Ski Jump and a Ski Troll (I think those things are the cutest thing ever)

Following the trend of posting Absolut Ads, here is the one for Oslo… showing the Holmenkollen Ski Jump.
